I must pass along a recommendation for your TV viewing pleasure. If you have an inquisitive mind you’ll love Nova scienceNOW. It is a spinoff of of the wonderful Nova series that focuses on compelling Science and Technology stories. The show format is wonderfully entertaining and host Neil Degrasse Tyson is great. scienceNOW airs Wednesday evenings on PBS, check local listing for air time.
You can also see past episodes and stories online at PBS.org. Here are a few of my favorite stories.
Dark Matter – Turns out most of the universe is held together by a mysterious, invisible substance.
Hany Farid – This self-proclaimed “accidental scientist” is a digital detective inventing new ways to tell if photos have been faked. (How good is he? He consults with the Adobe Photoshop team to create law enforcement software.)
Pardis Sabeti – By night she’s a rocker. By day, she’s a Harvard geneticist tracking the evolution of the human genome. (This scientist work is revolutionizing how we look at the the genome and her latest work could save millions)
